Update on COVID-19

Tēnā koutou katoa

We just wanted to update our players, whanau, coaches and volunteers what we know about the developing situation with COVID-19, and what it means for us in regards to football.

As of today, the 18th of March, New Zealand Football (NZF) and Capital Football (CF) have advised all Clubs that the start of all Junior & Youth football competitions will be delayed until the 2nd May. We think this is a very sensible decision by our Federation, and one we are supportive of. Although the players will be raring to go, it is prudent to avoid large gatherings such as junior football games for now. The statement from NZF is attached.

We will be following the advice of Capital Football over the coming weeks. They are following NZ Football’s lead who is taking advice from the government and the Ministry of Health on the best approach. They are constantly monitoring the most relevant and most up to date information to ensure we keep the safety and wellbeing of the players, their families, the coaches and the wider community as the highest priority.

Based on the information we have been provided by Capital Football, this postponement applies to all of the following activities:

Football

All football is postponed until May 2nd

Training

Can commence 2 weeks before the start of the season (18th of April at this stage)

Futsal

All futsal has been canceled immediately

Courses

All courses will be postponed and rescheduled from May 2nd

We strongly note that these dates are subject to change due to this ever-evolving situation.

As always, the situation is rapidly changing and we will communicate any changes or significant new information to you as soon as possible. It is also important to remember that we are a Club, and we should continue to look out for ourselves and each other. There will be a lot of people disappointed by this obviously, including our players, volunteers, families and coaches. Hopefully, the situation will improve and we can all get back to having fun on the field as soon as possible 😊

We will endeavor to make sure all club players will know their teams and coaches within the next two weeks.
